Ratchet is the primary protagonist of the Ratchet & Clank series, being one of the titular heroes and a main playable character in the games. He is an intergalactic hero, a skilled mechanic, and the last remaining lombax in the universe. Son of Kaden, Ratchet was born on Fastoon in the Polaris Galaxy but came to grow up as an orphaned mechanic on Veldin in the Solana Galaxy. His life was changed once he met Clank, a small robot who crash-landed on Veldin and became his lifelong companion and best friend. The two have since shared many adventures, often working alongside Captain Qwark, as they have saved galaxies from galactic criminals and supervillains, the most notable of which being Dr. Nefarious. During his time, Ratchet has worked for Megacorp as a trained commando, the Galactic Rangers as a sergeant, the Q-Force as a leading member, and the Polaris Defense Force.
is the titular deuteragonist and secondary main playable character of the Ratchet & Clank series. He is a robot created by the Zoni, possessing a Zoni soul as a result, and is Ratchet's best friend. Clank was created by Orvus, the leader of the Zoni, in the Great Clock. He was produced in a blarg robot factory on Quartu that created sentry-bots, but upon acquiring an infobot and learning about Chairman Drek's plans, he fled the planet in a stolen starship, crash-landing on Veldin. There, he met Ratchet, who became his lifelong best friend afterward, as they would partake on many adventures. When the two visited the Polaris Galaxy in their mission to defeat Emperor Percival Tachyon, Clank was met by a race invisible to the others known as the Zoni, who referred to him as the Chosen One. The Zoni helped Clank defeat Tachyon and afterwards, abducted him from Ratchet to take him back to the Great Clock, where he was supposed to take up his true destiny as Senior Caretaker of the Clock with Sigmund. However, after stopping Dr. Nefarious from trying to use the Clock to his advantage, Clank made Sigmund its caretaker and returned to his place at Ratchet's side.
Al, also referred to as Big Al, is a recurring support character in the Ratchet & Clank series. He is a robotics engineer and computer hacker, notable for providing upgrades to Clank. Al owns a large RoboShack in Kerwan's bustling city Metropolis, and also has a brother named Bob on Pokitaru. He is also a huge fan of Captain Qwark, and an avid collector of Qwark vid-comics.
Copernicus Leslie Qwark, most commonly known as Captain Qwark or simply Qwark, is a major supporting character in the Ratchet & Clank series. He is one of the most frequently recurring characters, first as an antagonist in Ratchet & Clank and Going Commando, though later as a support character following Up Your Arsenal, with playable roles in Secret Agent Clank, All 4 One, and Full Frontal Assault. Captain Qwark is an intergalactic celebrity from Kerwan in the Solana Galaxy, who is portrayed, marketed, and revered by the populace as a superhero who is brave, noble, strong, and has defeated many intergalactic villains. In reality, Qwark is a superhero, but sometimes he works with the enemy of the state.
Alonzo Drek, also referred to by final full title Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek, or Chairman Drek, is the main antagonist in Ratchet & Clank, as well as its 2016 re-imagined game and the movie. He was the chairman of Drek Industries and dictator of the blarg, who destroyed planets in the Solana Galaxy in order to use their pieces to create a new homeworld after Orxon became inhospitable.
Skidd McMarx, alternatively spelled Skid McMarx and Skidd McMarxx, is a support character in Ratchet & Clank, its 2016 re-imagined game, Up Your Arsenal, and Rift Apart. He is a renowned professional hoverboard champion of Rilgar, who worked with his agent, Don Wonderstar. He later joined the Q-Force team led by Captain Qwark as the fleet's black ops, with the codename "Shadow Dude".
Megacorp is a colossal corporation featured in Going Commando, with minor appearances in subsequent games. They are a leading manufacturer of all products in the Bogon Galaxy, including weapons, gadgets, robotics, appliances, and commercial entertainment, ran by CEO Abercrombie Fizzwidget. Megacorp vendors, as well as larger Megacorp stores, appear on all planets in the Bogon Galaxy, supplying weapons and ammo. Megacorp appears to have a complete monopoly on all products in the Bogon Galaxy, and is also in possession of a large militaristic robotic security force.
Gadgetron Corporation is a large gadget and weapons supplier in the Ratchet & Clank series. Based in the Gadgetron site on planet Kalebo III, it is one of the largest corporations in the Solana Galaxy. It has Gadgetron vendors stationed on all inhabited planets throughout the galaxy and some uninhabited planets. Ratchet and Clank have made use of Gadgetron products throughout all of their adventures, such as the OmniWrench, Swingshot, nanotech, and the RYNO series of weapons.
Thugs-4-Less,[1][2] also known as Goons-4-Less,[3] is a mercenary organization, originating in the Bogon Galaxy that appear as secondary antagonists in Going Commando, Into the Nexus and Rift Apart, with minor appearances in other titles. It consists entirely of a species of reptilian creatures from their homeworld of Snivelak, and was led by the Thug Leader. The Thugs offer their services to the highest bidder, and appear to be motivated primarily by profit, although the Thug Leader had a personal vendetta against Ratchet and Clank.
Doctor Nefarious is the primary antagonist of the Ratchet & Clank series, being the main antagonist of Up Your Arsenal and A Crack in Time, the secondary antagonist of Rift Apart, an antagonist in both Ratchet & Clank (2016 game) and the tie-in Ratchet & Clank movie, one of the four main protagonists of All 4 One, and has appearances in other titles. A robot scientist and self-proclaimed supervillain, he is the nemesis of Captain Qwark, and has a distinct hatred for organic life forms.
Victor Von Ion is an antagonist in the Ratchet & Clank 2016 re-imagined game and the Ratchet & Clank movie. He was Chairman Drek's bodyguard and warbot lieutenant, and the commander of the forces of Drek Industries. He served as Clank's archenemy.
Merc is a major support character in Deadlocked. He is one of two combat bots, alongside his companion Green, that were members of Team Darkstar, assisting Ratchet in combat during his DreadZone challenges. Merc was the more confident and battle-ready of the two, and both used equipment and upgrades provided by Al. Merc and Green fight alongside Ratchet in most missions in the single player campaign of Deadlocked. Players can purchase upgrades and equipment, as well as cosmetic changes, for them both, and issue commands in battle. Merc also provides tips in multiplayer.
Green is a major support character in Deadlocked.
