Jak was born to the Grand House of Mar in Haven City as the son of King Damas. His mother was never mentioned in any of the games, making him one of a few characters to have a father with no apparent mother.[note 1] Some time after his birth, Jak's father was betrayed by Baron Praxis and Veger. The politics of the impeachment remain unknown, however it is known that it was amid the Metal Head Wars. Through betrayal and tyranny, Baron Praxis rose to power as the "temporary" ruler of Haven City and banished Damas to the Wasteland. Jak was pronounced an orphan and left on the city streets, losing the birth name Mar (for an unknown reason) and given the pen name "the kid."
He is a former human, and was transformed into a Precursor ottsel upon falling into a dark eco silo in The Precursor Legacy. He made his debut in the first game at fifteen years old, with his most recent known age at nineteen during Jak X: Combat Racing.[1] He was raised in Sandover Village alongside his best friend Jak before traveling to the future to become a well-known hero.
Keira is a prominent supporting character in the Jak and Daxter series, the daughter of Samos Hagai, and Jak's primary love interest. She is perhaps best known as a talented mechanic, inventor, and racer, having ultimately invented the zoomers, designed and rebuilt a replica of the Rift Rider, and also raced in the Kras City Grand Championship.[2][3][4] She is also a forthcoming eco sage as of The Lost Frontier.
was a supporting character in Jak 3. He was the king of Spargus and later revealed to be the long-lost father of Jak, whom he knew by his birth name, Mar. He was once the ruler of Haven City while in the House of Mar before he was betrayed and usurped by Baron Praxis and subsequently banished to the Wasteland, where he either founded or joined Spargus and eventually became its ruler.
Torn is a primary support character in Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing. He is a former captain of the Krimzon Guard before he resigned to lead the rebel Underground movement, a resistance against Baron Praxis and the tyrannical Krimzon Guard in Jak II. After the reformation of the New Krimzon Guard into the Freedom League, he regained his position as head captain, and led the Freedom League in the War for Haven City during Jak 3. He was also one of the five characters to be poisoned in the events of Jak X: Combat Racing, and thus became a racer during that game. He is the primary love interest of Ashelin Praxis.
is a prominent support character in Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing. She is the daughter of Baron Praxis, and a former captain of the Krimzon Guard before becoming governess of Haven City (superseding her late father) and reforming the Krimzon Guard into the Freedom League. She is the main love interest of former Krimzon Guard commander, past Underground leader, and Freedom League captain, Torn.
Veger, formerly Count Veger, is the secondary antagonist of Jak 3, also appearing in Daxter. As his title of "count" implies, he is a high-ranking councilman in the Grand Council of Haven City. Unlike the game's primary antagonist, Cyber Errol, Count Veger is more of a personal enemy to Jak than a villain, exercising what he believes is best for Haven City in attempting to eliminate any peril of Dark Makers or Metal Heads, and considers Jak a threat; prejudiced against him due to his imbuement of dark eco.
Samos Hagai is a prominent supporting character in the Jak and Daxter series. He first appeared in The Precursor Legacy as the mentor and watch over of Jak and Daxter, and the sage of green eco. He was the founder of the Underground while going under the alias the "Shadow", before taking young Jak to Sandover Village to raise him and his daughter, Keira, and become a full-fledged sage.[4]
Onin is a support character appearing in Jak II and Jak 3. She is an elderly soothsayer, requiring her interpreter, Pecker, to translate a sign language which she used in conjunction with a spell-type ability referred to as "magic", which Samos Hagai could apparently translate as well.
